It took Spencer a while but he did make the right choice.
Dewarick Spencer is now the new player of BC Budivelnik and he was announced by the Ukrainian club today. Spencer decided to leave Greece after the debacle of signing with Maroussi BC and he will try to help his team qualify in the Euroleague of next season. The announcement can be found below:
Budivelnik sign Spencer, part with Balashov
With a start of the season Budivelnik have finished with signings. The last player that joined Kyiv squad is Dewarick Spencer. Last season he spent with French Le Man.
Following this Budivelnik parted with one of the team’s veteran Maksym Balashov. He went to Dnipro-Azot on loan. Balashov has spent 9 seasons with Budivelnik being one of the leaders some years ago.

Rumors about Jasikevicius and Aris

This rumor was circulated in the late hours of last night and it was circulated amongst the journalists in Greece but it was basketblog.gr that decided to release it first. Sarunas Jasikevicius is a name that needs no introduction and much speculation has formed around his name and a possible destination the last few months. The player did say that he would like to remain in Panathinaikos but it seems that his cycle there has come to an end. Obviously, stranger things have happened and one shouldn't dismiss a transfer of the last minute that would be the return of Jasikevicius to Panathinaikos.
The player's desire is to remain in Greece and that's because he recently became a father and since his girlfriend is Greek. The rumor is that in Aris, they are tired of waiting for Olympiakos to release Halperin and there is time pressure because this development also halts the addition of a center, possibly from the American market(with a few targets already in mind). They're also waiting on Milos Vujanic to possibly drop his demands, although that seems unlikely. So now there is also Sarunas Jasikevicius added to the list and Aris will approach the Lithuanian veteran and they won't be banking on money but his desire to stay in Greece. This could also be leverage against Halperin or Vujanic now that such a prestigious name has been added on the list. And there is always the case of money as Aris cannot offer what teams like Panathinaikos could offer.

Rafer Alston another candidate for China
The Chinese Basketball Association may not have the same draw as more prestigious European leagues, but what it does have is a type.
Stephon Marbury. Steve Francis. Maybe Allen Iverson. The CBA has become a post-NBA destination for low-efficiency scoring point guards, and according to the Hoops Market, we can now add two more prospective names to that list: Flip Murray and Rafer Alston.
The Zhejiang Lions (home of former lottery pick Rodney White and quasi-NBA big man Peter John Ramos) are reportedly interested in bringing in either Murray or Alston. The Hoops Market notes that Murray does have a few NBA offers that would dissuade him from signing in China, but Alston, on the other hand, appears to be knocking on NBA doors without anyone answering.
NBA GMs know what Alston can do, and they're not interested. They've seen him top 40% shooting just two times in 11 seasons, and that such a mark has never deterred him from firing away. Alston has pouted and caused trouble, in spite of being an infinitely replaceable player. My only concern: did all of that seriously take 11 years to discern? I suppose we have the Toronto Raptors to blame for signing Alston to a six-year, $25 million contract in 2004, but part of me is still surprised that no team tried to cut Alston loose prior to both the Nets and Heat doing so last season.
Apparently his trade value (as either contract filler or overvalued player) was just high enough to avoid such a fate.
Murray may be hanging around (which makes sense; for all of his faults, Murray is still useful as a bench scorer), but Alston seems to have been kicked out. Whether he ends up joining Zhejiang or not is his choice, but the NBA isn't his home anymore.

Philadelphia acquired Darius Songaila
Philadelphia, Pa. – September 23, 2010 – Philadelphia 76ers President Rod Thorn announced today that the team has acquired forwards Darius Songaila and Craig Brackins from the New Orleans Hornets in exchange for guard Willie Green and forward/center Jason Smith.
“We made the move for these two players to add additional depth to our front court and to add out-court shooting, which was an area that we felt needed improving,” Thorn said. “Songaila is a hard-working, veteran forward who will give us another option up front and Brackins is a rookie that we feel has a chance to develop into a very productive player at this level.
“On behalf of the Sixers, I want to thank Willie Green and Jason Smith for their contributions and professionalism during their time with us.”
Songaila (6-9/248) is set to enter his eighth NBA season. In 485 games played with 79 starts for Sacramento, Chicago, Washington and New Orleans, he has averaged 7.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 18.9 minutes per game while shooting 49.9% from the floor and 84.6% from the line.
A native of Lithuania, Songaila attended high school in the United States and went on to star at Wake Forest, earning Honorable Mention All-America honors from The Associated Press his senior season. He has been a member of the Lithuanian National Team since 1998 and has played in the past three Olympic Games (2000, 2004 and 2008). Songaila was originally the 50th overall pick by the Boston Celtics in the 2002 NBA Draft.

Rumors for Songaila, Skola, Savanovic or Stojakovic and Olympiakos
Could there be one last transfer move for Olympiakos or is it a red herring?
It's said that Olympiakos hasn't made a transfer that will make a splash, or a bang in the transfer market and wow the crowds. Nothing like Kleiza or Childress who both returned to the safety of the NBA courts where fireworks, bottles and mobile phones don't get hurled at them. Nevertheless the owners of Olympiakos are not known for their money spending savvy. If nothing else they've signed quite a few disproportionate contracts in their time. Sometimes giving away too much, other times sending away perfectly good players for being too stingy..
Nevetheless, this newspaper that is affiliated to Olympiakos, by the name of Gavros(in Greek it means anchovy and is a nickname of the fans of Olympiakos due to its red color), says that there are 4 more transfer targets for Olympiakos. One might that the players of Olympiakos are perfectly good players for any Euroleague team but most of them lack a certain "star status" that the fans might have hoped for their team. Nesterovic is hardly the ex-NBA heartthrob.. And having such rich bosses makes you wonder there is actually an intention to win the last laugh of transfers or perhaps they will not do anything about it.
The targets cover a vast array of positions.. from small forward to center. They are namely Luis Scola, Predrag Stojakovic, Darius Songaila and last but not least Dusko Savanovic who is certainly the budget option, compared to the other 3 and somewhat less of a star player.
Perhaps the paper wants to attract more readers with such bold claims or perhaps there is actually something in the making. I'd opt for the first choice but you never know. Dusko Savanovic doesn't sound like a far fetched choice after all.

Fernandez rejected a trade to New Orleans
Will Rudy Fernandez get traded before Carmelo Anthony?
I don't know. But it's hard to believe that Fernandez is still on the Blazers' roster a week before the start of camp, after the team and his agent, Andy Miller, have spent the summer trying to broker a trade for the unhappy guard. Fernandez has made it clear he doesn't want to play for Nate McMillan any more, and the Blazers have made it clear that they'd try to accomodate him. But Portland wants a first-round pick for the 25-year-old guard, who averaged 8.1 points in 23 minutes a game for Portland last season, and not just any old first-rounder.
Fernandez, according to a source, rejected a possible trade to New Orleans, where he could have played for former Blazers assistant Monty Williams, now the Hornets' coach.
The Blazers won't send Fernandez home while they try to work out a trade, and they won't cut him. Reports that Fernandez had agreed to terms with FC Barcelona last week were false. So Fernandez will have no choice but to report to camp next week, even though everyone knows he doesn't want to play in Portland any more.
"I'm still trying to accomodate his request," GM Rich Cho said Sunday.

Bojan Popovic is a taget of Aris
Bojan Popovic shouldn't stay a free agent for very long.
Aris BC made an enquiry into the case of Bojan Popovic(1.91-PG). The Serbian point-guard was recently released by Partizan Belgrade. The player didn't fit the style of the team according to the Euroleague official site and so now he is back on the market as a free agent. Bojan Popovic has both Euroleague and Eurocup experience and Aris are still looking for that one final guard to complete the backcourt. Quite handily coach Drucker and Bojan Popovic still share ties with the same agent.
The first target is Milos Vujanic whose asking price is still in excess of 200,000 euros. Yotam Halperin is also a target of Aris but it seems that Olympiacos and Dusan Ivkovic still haven't made a decision about whether they'll keep him or not. Also Halperin wants more money than what Aris are offering and what Olympiacos are offering as a compensation. So Popovic could actually fit the bill here as he is more of a point-guard than Halperin and could end up costing less than either of them. Jason Hart was also a target but his asking price was quite high and Curtis Jerrells still wants to pursue a contract in the NBA and will remain in the training camp of the Spurs until October. Popovic played for Lietuvos Rytas and Efes Pilsen last season. In Lietuvos Rytas he averaged 11.2 points 2 rebounds and 5.4 assists in 10 Euroleague games and in Efes Pilsen he averaged 3.3 points 2 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 6 Euroleague games.

Pops Mensah-Bonsu joins Hornets training camp
Former NBA Development League All-Star and NBA vagabond forward Pops Mensah-Bonsu will be in New Orleans' training camp on a make-good contract, a league source has told FanHouse.
Mensah-Bonsu, the 6-foot-9, 235-pound former George Washington talent who has logged a combined 54 games with four NBA teams in three seasons, played with CSKA Moscow last season after being cut by Toronto.
A member of Great Britain's national team, Menah-Bonsu averaged 19.3 points and 13.5 rebounds over eight games in August while helping his native country qualify for EuroBasket 2011.
Mensah-Bonsu signed with Caja Laboral of the Spanish ACB league this summer, but was unexpectedly available when the offer was reportedly withdrawn because of a lingering knee injury that some claim was widely known in hoops circles.
A key new member of the Hornets, however, saw what Mensah-Bonsu could do before and is hoping he does it again. New Orleans general manager Dell Demps was hired in July after spending five years in various roles with San Antonio, where one of his titles was general manager of the Spurs' NBA D-League team, the Austin Toros.
Mensah-Bonsu played eight games with the Toros in February of 2009, averaging 26.6 points, 13 rebounds and 2.5 blocks before he was signed to a 10-day contract with the Spurs. He will be fighting for time behind the Hornets' frontcourt of David West and Emeka Okafor.

Un Atletica signed Mike Crain
Veteran Point Guard Mike Crain has signed a 1 year deal with Un Atletica out of Uruguay.
The former Valdosta State guard will take his game overseas with a very solid resume after playing last year with the ABA’s S.E. Texas Mavericks and the CBA's East Kentucky Miners previously before that.
During the 2009-2010 season with the Mavericks, Crain averaged 11 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assist per game, which lead to him receiving the 2010 ABA Sixth Man of the Year and All Southwest Conference honors.

Maroussi out of Euroleague Qualifying Rounds
The goods news are that they haven't hit bottom yet..
Maroussi BC are out of the Euroleague qualifiers according to superbasket.gr. This happened because the administration of Maroussi did not submit all the necessary documents to the ULEB and hence they cannot participate in the Qualifying rounds. Another team will take their place and it will not be a Greek team.
Another player left today, Zisis Sarikopoulos(2.13-C), who will be signing a 3-season agreement with Panionios instead. Everything is falling apart around Maroussi and noone seems to be able to stop it. The previous owner of the team Aris Vovos still abstains and the 300 odd fans of the team have no real political power to force any decisions in Greece. The current administration must be seriously pissed off because this time last year there wasn't anyone paid either but they knew they had something great. They haven't really done anything though to help themselves either. Bad timing to start an unpaid team in Greece? Quite so.
There is no telling whether Maroussi will be able to participate even in the Greek A1 league and the rest of the players refused practising as they haven't been paid.
Will there be anyone capable to stop the downfall? Doubtful..

Rumors about Partizan and Dewarick Spencer
Another one to leave Maroussi.
Dewarick Spencer(1.93-SG/PG) is very close to Partizan Belgrade according to superbasket.gr. After coach Bartzokas quit from Maroussi, Spencer left Athens and the article says that he is now very close to signing a contract with Partizan Belgrade for the next season.
Spencer is not really bound by a contract because the situation in Maroussi is quite shady already and all the players were bound by pre-contractual agreements that have not much legal value and can be easily broken. Spencer seems to be the player that will replace Aleksandar Rasic that could continue his career in Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Hapoel Jerusalem signed Michael Dunigan for 3 seasons
Hapoel Migdal Jerusalem invested in the future with the signing of Michael Dunigan for the next three seasons.
Dunigan (208, 21) arrives to Hapoel from the University of Oregon where he spent only two years before turning pro. In his sophomore season, he posted 9.0 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game. Dunigan, like recently-signed power forward Sam Clancy, arrived in Jerusalem and successfully passed the medical tests, but was not able to take part in a friendly game against Israeli League champion Hapoel Gilboa/Galil. He is set to play his first official game against Liege Basket on September 29.

Verginis leaving Panathinaikos for Aris
He had enough time polishing the bench.. time to play.
According to gazzetta.gr, Dimitris Verginis(1.91-PG/SG) is more than likely to move from Panathinaikos to Aris. The Greek combo guard didn't follow the rest of the team of Panathinaikos to Zlatibor for the preparation stage and stayed behind. The reason behind that was to break his contract with Panathinaikos. Panathinaikos would compensate Verginis with 120,000 euros to break his 300,000 euros contract and then he will sign with Aris for another 80,000 euros. The article says that there is an option for another season in the contract for 150,000 euros for Verginis.
Aris want desperately to return to the Euroleague and Verginis is desperately looking for some playing time so he doesn't retire way before his time. The deal could be announced tomorrow morning according to the article and if this goes through then it means that Aris are no longer pursuing the much more expensive Milos Vujanic.Verginis didn't get much playing time the last 2 seasons and he was obviously used as a practice aid. He wants to change all that and show what he's worth. Last season he only played 10 games in Greece for Panathinaikos and 2 games in the Euroleague.

Kambala could play for Akademik next season
The controversial player could land in Bulgaria next season.
According to bulgarianbasket.com, the Latvian center Kaspars Kambala (2.06-C) could play for Lukoil Akademik next season. The GM of the club, Alex Vezenkov confirmed that the team is in talks with Kambala and that is likely he will sign for them. This could be a major transfer for Akademik that lost Pero Antic(2.11-PF/C) to Spartak St. Petersburg.
Kambala has played for the last 2 seasons in Russia for Krasnoyarsk following a 2 year ban from basketball after a positive doping test. During that time he tried his luck as a boxer but without much success. Last season he averaged 14.5 points and 6.1 rebounds in 11 games in the Russian Superleague.

Aris to announce Haralambidis, will try for Vujanic
One down, one to go..
These could be the last 2 additions for the roster of Aris until the first game of the team for the Eurocup Qualifiers against Lukoil Akademik on September 29th. The saga of Kostas Haralambidis(1.88-PG/SG) will end soon for the Greek veteran who wants to leave the team of Panellinios. Panellinios announced earlier today the signing of Manolis Papamakarios but Haralambidis is still bound by contract to them.
Rumors from Thessaloniki say though that Haralambidis will be released by the end of this week and he will sign a 2 season contract with Aris. He averaged 10.6 points 1.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 35 games last season playing for Panellinios. The deal could be announced possibly tomorrow, although that's not final.
On another note in Aris they're hoping that they will bring a new sponsor on-board that will allow the team some extra buying power. Milos Vujanic(1.92-PG) seems to be the favourite candidate, whereas Samo Udrih is in talks with a Euroleague team and his case won't go through. Vujanic averaged the impressive 17.7 points per game last season for Murcia in the ACB and his salary is probably a lot higher than what Aris can afford but perhaps a compromise can be made.

Paok will try to sign Hakan Koseoglu
Paok will try to sign the assist king of Turkey.
Hakan Koseoglu(1.85-PG) was the assist king of the Turkish League last season averaging the impressive 8.7 assists per game. He played for Erdemirspor in Turkey and he has also been a member of the Turkish National Team.
Information from Thessaloniki says that Koseoglu is a target of Paok. The Greek team seem to have a gap in the backcourt and rumors that they are in talks with Koseoglu. The deal is hindered by the inability of Paok to provide financial guarantees to Koseoglu as to how will his contract be covered. Other Turkish teams also want in on the Turkish point guard as well who also averaged 10.1 points and 1.8 rebounds in a total of 32 games.

Rumors about Chrysikopoulos and Olympiakos
It was only a matter of time I guess...
Linos Chrysikopoulos(2.03) is the biggest talent of his crop and he belongs to Aris Thessaloniki. He is probably the biggest talent Greek basketball has seen in a very long time. It's true there have been Nick Calathes and Kostas Koufos, but they didn't come out of a Greek team. They learned how to play basketball in America. There is a big difference and the word that makes all the difference is Infrastructure.
Greece has no serious infrastructure when it comes to producing and developing talented basketball players. Hell, Greece might not even have a Pro(A1) league next season but that's another story.. Obviously one will say that talented players will do great anyway if they work hard. That is very true. What is also true is that there are many players who don't get the attention they deserve and get missed out. Linos Chrysikopoulos is the type of player that can do anything for his team. He could play pretty much all positions in the court. Obviously he still has a long way to go but he has the body(7'1'' wingspan) and the talent to become the next big thing of Greek and European basketball.
According to our brother blog greekhoopz.blogspot.com, Olympiakos want in on the action. There was a rumor back in the days that Panathinaikos are interested in the player and that they would try to cut Aris out of the loop. Let's explain what this means. If a player turns 18 his team can autonomously sign a 3 season(maximum) contract with the player without the player's consent. With the player's consent this can be extended to 5 seasons. Linos Chrysikopoulos will be 18 this December and the rumor said that Panathinaikos would try to cancel the validity of the one-sided contract that Aris would want to sign. Obviously in December we'll find out if they can pull it off.
Rumors from Thessaloniki suggest that the player will sign a 5 season contract with Aris and the buy-out clause would resemble that of Rubio's contract. Olympiakos want to get their foot on the door and rumors from Athens suggest that they're willing to offer Yotam Halperin and Zoran Erceg on loan for a season and after they signed Chrysikopoulos they would also lend him to Aris for a season.
One thing is for sure. Aris cannot compete with Olympiakos financially. Aris could never hope to offer the kind of contract that Olympiakos could. So it's only a matter of a time before the player is sold. What is curious though, is that there hasn't been any obvious interest from other European powerhouses.
There are teams out there with big wallets and Chrysikopoulos could benefit from a team program outside Greece.. let's say Spain. Perhaps the player wants to stay in Greece. Perhaps the player's value is not high enough to warrant a sale. Perhaps just like the case of Kostas Papanikolaou it could be a matter of good timing when the player will excel with the Greece U-19 or U-20 team and his price will skyrocket. This summer he averaged 17 points 8 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 9 games during the 2010 U-18 Eurobasket in Lithuania and he was the only player from the Greek squad that stood out.
In Thessaloniki they're saying that Chrysikopoulos will get some much deserved playing time with Aris, let's hope this is true. It would be a waste for Greek basketball to see a player like that shafted to the bench of a wealthy team getting only "rubbish time".

Rumors about Vujanic and Norris for Aris
Leverage for Udrih or moving to new candidates?
According to Greek newspaper Metrosport, Milos Vujanic(1.90-PG) and Marcus Norris(1.85-PG) are candidates for Aris. In a previous article we spoke about Samo Udrih although the latest information indicates that Udrih has been in talks with Aris for more than a month now and things don't appear to move forward because of a gap in the financial talks.
Vujanic has a very high salary expectation(more than 300,000 euros) so it seems unlikely to happen (or even to mention it), whereas veteran Marcus Norris has a Croatian passport and extensive European experience and he is 36 years old. He has been playing for Gran Canaria in the ACB for the last 5 seasons and last season he averaged 7.9 points 2.6 reobunds 3.7 assists in 36 games. Vujanic played for Murcia last season and averaged 17.7 points 2.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 34 games.

Maroussi falling apart, Batis leaving for Panionios.
More people will leave the sinking ship.
Maroussi BC is the example to avoid this season when it comes to basketball teams. Although they were a prime example of organisational prowess combined with extensive PR they have no fans. Well they do have some fans but they're probably less than 200.. so as soon as the owner of the team bailed out on them and gave the management to the team to someone less than credible the team started falling apart. No fans can come to the rescue and everyone awaits the mayor of the municipality of Maroussi to save the team like a modern messiah. This is unlikely to happen according to statements that owner Aris Vovos made to basketnet.gr, saying that it actually be too late for the team to even take part in next season's A1 league. Vovos tried to transfer the ownership to O.F.I. a team of the B' Division of Greece based in Crete but his plans were thwarted by the mayor and the semi-pro part of the team who onwed 10% of the shares. This is what happens when you put a politician in charge of.. well pretty much anything..
On another front, after coach Bartzokas, Marios Batis(1.90-PG) is leaving the team according to sportnet.gr and he will join Panionios next season. He averaged 3.3 points and 1.6 assists in 32 games last season.

James Singleton will play in China next season
James Singleton determined that he would have more to gain (such as money and playing time) in leaving the NBA than sticking around for another shot next season.
Singleton, a throw-in from the Wizards' trade deadline deal with Dallas last February who emerged as a regular rotation player, said on Monday that he signed to play next season in China with the Xinjiang Gyang Hui Flying Tigers.
The Wizards had some interest in bringing back Singleton, an undersized but energetic, high-flying forward who averaged 6.1 points and 6.9 rebounds in 32 games -- including three starts -- after arriving in Washington. Singleton had seven games with at least 10 rebounds, including a career-high 21-rebounds in a loss to Indiana last March.
But Singleton said the Wizards were like several NBA teams that expressed interest in signing him to the league minimum. He wouldn't give the terms of the deal but hinted that his contract in China was much more lucrative.
"Playing with the Wizards was a great experience," Singleton said when reached by phone. "They gave me a chance to play because of my talent and work ethic, and not sit behind a name. I'm going back overseas to play basketball because of my passion, not the pay or the fame. Overseas, they allow players to play, grow and mature."
Singleton was undrafted out of Murray State in 2003, but worked his way into the league, spending two seasons in Italy before joining the Los Angeles Clippers. After two seasons with the Clippers, Singleton returned to Spain for another year before signing with Dallas. He said that the NBA is "a business" and that a number of factors outside of basketball often contribute to which players get an opportunity to shine.
"I've seen and experienced just about everything the NBA can offer. I'm blessed cause I was able to partake in it," Singleton said, "Some guys would love to just make it there, ride the bench and get paid. I'm not that guy. I want to play. I didn't work hard all these years just to sit and watch other people. I was given a true talent, but sitting around and being a cheerleader isn't one of them."
Xinjiang finished second in the Chinese Basketball Association last season.

Bartzokas quit as head coach of Maroussi
One season without any money was enough.
Giorgos Bartzokas resigned from his position as head coach of Maroussi BC. The team is under new management but under very shady circumstances. They're so shady that nobody really knows what's going on in the team. Noone knows if there is a new owner of if there is a new general manager. Bartzokas won the award of Head Coach of the Year for season 2009-2010 but it's no secret that none of the players of Maroussi were paid any salaries.
All key players of Maroussi last season signed in other teams and although they recently signed Dewarick Spencer and Ron Slay, noone really knows how will such expensive players be paid. Bartzokas left because the players were not given any of their first salaries and he drew a line showing that he is not willing to coach another team of unpaid players. The future of Maroussi now hangs in the balance as this could signal a surge of departures..

AEK signed Anthony Grundy
Grundy returns to Greece.
After a season in Italy, Anthony Grundy(1.88-PG/SG) returns to Greece and this time it's for AEK. Grundy was the top scorer of the A1 league during season 2007-2008 playing for Panellinios averaging 21.2 points per game and he also played in season 2008-2009 averaging 15.1 points per game. He continued his scoring streak in Italy where last season he played for Ferrara averaging 18 points per game in a total of 22 games in the LegaA1. Sadly even Grundy's scoring prowess saved Ferrara from relegation.
This coming season he will be playing for AEK Athens. He sent his contract back earlier today agreeing to a salary of 120,000 euros per season according to basketopinions.blogspot.com. This means that Grundy's contract is essentially a 1/4 of the players' budget of AEK One thing's for sure, he is the prime candidate to be the top scorer of the Greek A1 league.

Spartak St Petersburg released Stephane Lasme
Spartak St.Petersburg announced that Stephane Lasme (203-F-82, college: Massachusetts) is no longer member of the team.
According to the official web site of Spartak SP, the Gabonese forward has problems with the US immigration service and will have to stay in US for the next few months. The club announced they will have to look for Lasmes replacement.
Stephane Lasme signed contract with Spartak SP this summer, but it seems he will not play any game for them. Lasme spent last season with the Israeli powerhouse Maccabi Electra Tel-Aviv. He appeared in 20 Euroleague games for them averaging 6.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.4 bpg. Maccabi reached the Quarterfinals. In Israeli league, Lasme had 8.8 ppg, 4.5 rpg and 1.7 bpg in 24 games. There, Maccabi failed to defend the title, so they just won the Israeli National Cup last season.
A year before that, Stephane Lasme spent with Partizan Belgrade. That was the best season in his career and Lasme grabbed many awards. He won three trophies with the Serbian squad: Serbian league, National Cup and Adriatic league. In Euroleague, they reached the QFinals. Lasme had 11.1 ppg, 6.5 rpg and 1.6 bpg for 18 games. His first season as a pro Lasme spent with the Golden State Warriors, LA D-Fenders and Miami Heat. With the Heat he had 5.5 ppg, 3.5 rpg and 1.5 bpg for 15 games. He graduated at the University of Massachusetts in 2007.

Le Mans signed Alex Acker
Le Mans Sarthe Basket finalized its roster for the upcoming season with the signing of veteran Euroleague swingman Alex Acker, who arrives from Armani Jeans Milano.
Acker (195, 27) has played for three Euroleague teams over the past four seasons. Last season he averaged 8.8 points in four Euroleague games, having his season cut short by a leg injury. In 14 games in the Italian League, Acker registered 9.3 points per game. He was a top-ten scorer in the Euroleague as a rookie with Olympiacos in the 2006-07 season. The following season Acker joined F.C. Barcelona before heading to his native United States for a year, where he split time between Detroit and L.A. Clippers the NBA and Fort Wayne in the NBDL. He played college basketball at Pepperdine University.
"Alex is a player who brings a wealth of experience," Le Mans head coach J.D. Jackson said. "I'm sure he comes to Le Mans motivated and ready to win. Although our recruitment was longer than usual, I am convinced that our patience will be rewarded in the long term. Of all the good players we looked at, Alex is the one who seemed best able to fill the shoes left vacant by the departure of Dee Spencer."

Aris close to Udrih and Erceg
In Aris they're trying to fill the gaps in the roster.
Aris Thessaloniki are in negotiations with Slovenian combo-guard Samo Udrih(1.95-PG/SG). He is the brother of NBA player Beno Udrih and he is currently playing with the Slovenian National Team in World Cup in Turkey. Information from Greece indicates that Aris and Udrih are in advanced negotiations and the deal is close to be sealed. If Aris get Udrih they fill another gap in the backcourt and then they will wait to see what will happen with Kostas Haralambidis. Panellinios are asking for 50,000 euros to release the player. This sounds strange coming from a team that will lower their budget to 600,000 euros. Haralambidis' contract alone for next season is 130,000 euros.
Udrih played for Hopsi Polzela in the beginning of the season but then moved on to Cibona where he helped them win the Croatian League and got them to the finals of the Adriatic League. He has also played for Polzela in the beginning of his career. Other teams were Pivovarna Laško, Geoplin Slovan, Union Olimpija, Maurienne SB, Hapoel Tel Aviv, Girona, Granada and Estudiantes. He averaged 9 points 2.3 rebounds 1.8 assists in 13 games in the Adriatic League. He has played 3 games for Slovenia so far averaging 6.7 points 1.3 assists and 1.3 rebounds.
On another front Zoran Erceg(2.11-PF/C) is a player that could fill the gap in front-line of Aris. His contract of 700,000 euros is too high for Aris but they could cover a portion of it. It seems that Dusan Ivkovic doesn't account for Erceg in his roster plans for Olympiakos and the player would like to play in a tough league so he doesn't stay out of touch. More on this will be made known in the days to follow. It should be noted here that Erceg was also offered to Aris last season as well but Fotis Katsikaris turned him down to get Dragan Labovic(2.07-PF) instead.
